Anyone know when the download is available?

I'm using steam and the download link for DE isn't out yet, but my friend who uses xbox games pass has already downloaded it using that. Would have liked to have downloaded it before release as i only have a 10 meg line.

About the unit upgrade differences between the civilizations.

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 12:08 AM PDT

    https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Unit_upgrade_(Age_of_Empires_III)

I recently found the above page about the unit upgrades in AoE3. It's very well organized, so I hope you guys take a look.

By the way I found that the upgrade costs of the Natives are much lower than those of Europeans and Asians. If you finished the 4th age upgrade, you would consume 800 wood / 800 coin for Europeans and 800/700 for Asians, but you would consume only 600/300 for the Natives.

And the 3rd age upgrades of the Natives add 25% HP and damage, while those of Europeans and Asians add just 20%. Though the upgrades of all civilizations are set at 50% in the 4th age, the efficiency of the 3rd age upgrades is way better for the Natives than Europeans and Asians.

I know not all civilizations can be the same, and I know that the developers intentionally did this to make a difference between the civs. But this inconsistency confuses me. Is there a good reason why the Natives should have particularly better upgrades? Did the developers intentionally give the Natives better upgrades because their economy is not good?

Do you think the logo of the subreddit should be updated in time for the release of Age of Empires III Definitive Edition to reflect and celebrate the beginning of a new era for game and community alike?

For the love of god DE fix these

AoE 3 is a nostalgia trip that I loved in my younger days. It is easy to remember the joys of building decks and engaging in massive skirmishes to secure the trade the routes. However, after revisiting it there are some good reasons AoE 2 often gets the preferential treatment:

    • Save feature for online games. The pacing of AoE 3 is a little faster but it is still a bummer when long game can not be saved with friends.

    • Deck building grind. One of the first things I do is unlock all of the cards using modded save profiles. Scrap the XP system - I want to play the game and enjoy strategies, not grind it out. AoE II's ability to join and play without hindrance (yes, some later cards are just better than others). I can understand that having all the cards might mean people are overwhelmed - that is where I believe the design decisions should be made.

    • I can understand if this one is less in tune with the community of AoE 3 at large. It is not viable to build fortifications for most civs. For all their resource goodness, trade routes often meant compromised bases where enemy units could just walk in. Adding to this the weakness of walls and the power of cannons, AoE 3 is not for turtles.

Other than that I wish the best for a solid release.
