Quite surprising but I agree 100%. Sometimes you cant enjoy the game while maintaining a high ELO. Enjoy first ;)

How many of you are still exclusively on Voobly?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 04:14 AM PST

Most posts around here are understandably about DE. But are here voobly players as well? (most of them are South American and from the poorer parts of the world).

    Just a curiosity of mine.

    What's your go-to 2v2, 3v3 arena strat?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 03:33 AM PST

For our party (of 3) it's almost always the same. One of the flanks (generally Spanish) goes for fwd castle with defensive knights from pocket to panic the enemy flank and get some idle time by petarding down the wall and getting the knights in. People in my ELO range (1700-1800 TG) always tend to overreact and end up falling behind in eco.

The Spanish player goes for a 3-4 TC boom in the background and masses conqs + halbs and the pocket (generally Franks / Teutons / Lith) goes full knights and the chaos allows for enough time to get more relics.

The other flank goes for an archer civ (Mayan or britons) + defensive castle + 3 tc boom.

Normally the Spanish player gets an eco lead and reaches imp around the same time as the defensive enemy flank and can wipe them easily with pocket knights and the other flank just holds on from the side.

What's your go-to strategy for arena in Team games?

    Team games as a noob

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 02:22 AM PST

Hey guys, I'm a super noob (600-700elo), I'm trying to teach myself the knight rush atm. Is it a good idea to start playing ranked team games? I don't wanna mess anyone's game up because I'm lower skill level but I'd love to try playing team. What's the best way to know I'm ready? Just play it and see?

    Help with a basic strat

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 07:37 AM PST

So, i need help in early game build order/strat.

I'm more of a defensive/late game player, and i'm currently playing malay/persians. Played starcraft2 for years, if it helps a bit. Obviously, i can't do a fast castle into 3 TC boom in opens maps, like arabia.

So, can someone send me a general strategy that help me to reach castle age? A lot of time i stuck in feudal age, becuase 3 scouts force my villagers away from wood, while 4 spearman chase them, amd they keep sending units, and reach the next age the same time, while i struggle to make defensive units, and villagers at the same time, becuase i have no food.

Any help would be welcome, and yes, i did the "defending againts the rush" challenge. It doesn't help, as you already have all 3 military building.

How to counter Halbadier + Paladin as Tatars

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 01:13 AM PST

Hey guys, I just lost a game that's left me a wee bit tilted. I played as the Tatars on Acropolis and opened MAA into archers. I had a lot of success in the early game claiming 4 vils and losing none. Then came castle age, I upgraded my archers to crossbows and added pikes knowing knights were coming I spent much of castle age defending cause he pushed me well with siege and knights/camels and Tatars lack redemption monks.

I got up before him and successfully trebbed down his castles in my base. Here came the problem I had since switched to Keshik/Camels which he had then answered by going paladin and spamming halbs. I kept dying to halbs whenever I tried to go for the paladin. As you may know, Tatar halbs are a little less than shii so I went for flaming camels which only succeeded at killing a few halberdiers before the GG.

How would you have approached this game? Would you have still gone Halbedier even tho his were superior? What would be a proper counter to Paladin and halberdier combo if you don't get proper halberdier.

Your insights will be much appreciated.

    Yours truly,

    A tilted gamer

I think the sub needs those choosable tags some subreddits have. Where you could choose your main civilizations tag after your name.

Does anyone know why have they replaced these three badass looking gentlemen above from the original cover with those average looking dudes below, on the cover of AoE2 DE?

Do you still get point if you resign early but your team wins?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2020 04:08 AM PST

People might think im trash due to the title but here is the story. In a 4v4 team game my opponent was super aggresive so i was super defensive. We fought like an hour but he could destroy only 3 houses. Meanwhile my teammates destroyed the other 3 players. So i wanted to give my opponent the satisfaction and resign early. But i wasnt sure if i still get the points.

    THE ULTIMATE CIV ALLIANCE ?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2020 01:05 PM PST

I've seen quite a lot of "Build you OP civ" here but this is quite different. In realife two civilization can end up merging and profit each from the other's adventages. For exemple after being conquered by Cesar, the Gaul and the Romans benefited a lot from their mutual knowledge and, in Gaul at least, merged into almost a new civilisation. What would happend if it happened in aoe2 ? What civilisations would profit most from each other's bonuses ? Would Britons and Mayas become the ultimate archer's civ ? Or would a Khmer - Slaves alliance's crasy farming dominate ? Would it be better to combine two very different civs to make a super versatile one or choose two very similar ones to make theirs bonuses synergize ? I'm dreaming of course but this could actually be a temporary event in the game, like URF was in LoL.

For exemple I would love to see a merge between franks and lithuanians into this knew civ :

    LITHUANKS

    - +150 food start

    - Farm upgrades are free.

    - Foragers work 25% faster.

For a super fast scout rush

    - Castles are 25% cheaper.

    - Hill Forts (Town Centers +3 range)

For a super protected base and massing leitis

    - Cavalry have +20% HP.

    - Each garrisoned Relic gives +1 attack to Knights and Leitis

    - Knights have +2 Line of Sight.

    - Chivalry (Stables work 40% faster)

Would make crazy good knights (or leitis) (including bloodlines thanks to lithuanians tech tree).

    - Bearded Axe (Throwing Axeman +1 range)

    - Tower Shields (Spearman line and Skirmishers +2 pierce armor)

    - Spearman-line and Skirmishers move 10% faster.

Would also allow a Axmen - fast trash units strat

Team bonus: Monastery works 20% faster.

    Never hurts.

Let me know your thoughts and the knew dumb-named civ you would enjoy playing most !
