The portuguese carcavel attack should have been a volley of gunpower, like organ guns.

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:33 AM PST

    1. Both unique units would share the same characteristics, one for land and one for water.
    2. The unique tech arquebus would impact both.
    3. The attack animation could rotate the ship 90 degrees so that the volleys come from the side. (optional, but adds to the cool factor)
    4. I think it is more historically accurate then ballistas, as the portuguese were innovators in naval gunpowder
    5. Carcavels would become an agile castle age hit-and-run unit (like conqs or arambai, but on water). High damage, low accuracy, few upgrades. That is VERY consistent with what a caravel was in real life. Caravels were agile exploration ships, equipped with guns to fend off and escape attacks.
    6. In imperial age, with arquebus, they become viable for sea battles, especially with the elite caravel upgrade.

I'm not saying it should be changed, just that it seems so consistent and satisfying to think about

Which is your main civ and why?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:43 AM PST

If you consistently play ranked (either 1v1 or TG) and are not setting random, which civilization is your go-to? What do you like about it?

Do you feel like you *master* the civ?

Do you think it's good to be really well-versed with a single civ or rather be an allrounder?

    Extreme AI quitting?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:08 AM PST

I am currently trying to improve a bit, an trying to play through the difficulties of the AI.

Im mainly playing as teutons, and had a couple of games vs goths extreme AI.

Its not that hard - FC, built two defensive castles and then spam scorps all over the place.. However, the AI resigns early.. Which im not sure why.

The first game had a K/D of 10:1, but the second had 2:1.. Both games i managed to get all the relics - but not actually attacking the AI's town. Just after i push out of my own town, the AI resigns...

    Why does it resign early?

Elo is imaginary and all that but... losing two ranked games in a row from your client Alt+F4ing itself sucks

Is it true that villagers are key to winning?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:59 AM PST

Very new to the game. A friend of mine keeps absolutely decimating me. I've noticed they usually have double or triple the number of villagers in the end game stats.

So is that all it takes? Just a TON of villagers?

Can someone help me figure out how I messed up my settings? None of my buildings can be closer than what looks like 2 tiles together.

Historical battles navigation from main menu

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:10 AM PST

I can't see any way to navigate to the Historical Battles from the main menu.

'Single Player' only has two options, random match and the campaigns. I have an old savegame from the Agincourt battle, which I load up and then quit. That gives me the option to go back to the Historical Battles menu, and I can navigate back to the main menu from there. But, there seems to be no path from the main menu to the Historical Battles, or at least none that I've been able to find.

Am I missing something super-easy or is this a genuine issue with the game?

Flank build order with Britons as ally

    Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:49 AM PST

The standard build order for a flank at the moment is 22 pop archers.

    > 6 on sheep

    > 4 on wood

    > 1 lure boar

    > 4 on berries

    > 6 more on food

    > Reseach loom and click up

    > Put 4 on gold and 4 on wood

However, if you have a Britons ally your ranges will work 20% quicker. Does this mean you should go up at a higher pop i.e. 23 pop to sustain production? Or should you do the build as you usually would and idle the ranges for 20% of the time?
