What's with the constant buffing of Japan civ? (Rant)

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 12:19 AM PDT

Since DE's launch, Japan which already among the top civs next to France has been getting buffs for almost every patch. They have cheap mini factories to claim hunts all over the map, the strongest units of every civ, broken Daimyos (mobile barracks) with insane HP and damage, tanky artillery, free spies, access to euro exclusive upgrades via Dutch Consulate and being able send most cards twice.

    Now? Now... :

    • Samurais hand attack buffed significantly.
    • Shrines made even cheaper. (Reversed but you know they'll put that back in again.)
    • Livestock Pen is a thing now and can be REBUILT.
    • Unit training speed increased with a card.
    • Literally almost nothing nerfed.

    Whereas other civs:

    • Every civ got nerfs and buffs to some extent, except Japan who only received buffs.
    • China especially nerfed to ground despite its glaring weaknesses, especially against any cav.
    • Euro explorers one-shot nerfed hard, whereas Japan monk can casually one-shot units passively (especially in Age 4).
    • Dutch banks can only make coin and Age 4 upgrade is significantly worse than Age 4 Shrine upgrade.
    • Every civ's musketeer loses against Ashigaru.
    • Every civ's skrimisher can be easily charged by Ashigaru.
    • All civs can have at most 2-3 tanky heroes whereas Japan can have 2 monks, 3 daimyos and 1 shogun.
    • France cav was slightly nerfed, but Japan's units were untouched?

Are the DE weeb devs trying to make Japan the strongest civ, to be better than France even?

    Sioux's Anti-Cav

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 01:04 AM PDT

    Hello,

Yesterday I faced my good friend who played Mother Russia with the Sioux.

As you can expect from the mere fact I am making a thread, it did not go well for me.

I am no stranger to the fact that on average Warchief civs are weaker than Western ones. However there's a specific thing I want to discuss for the Sioux.

My friend used an army of Cavalry Archers and Cossacks.

I used an army of Wakinas (Skirm) and Rifle Riders. However there was a problem.

For SOME reason Rifle Riders are considered heavy cav as well as light cav (???) and therefore would get absolutely destroyed by the Cavalry Archers which only my Wakinas could beat.

I had no sustainable wood economy to make Sioux's anti cav infantry, and when I would send the Rifle Riders they would get destroyed by the Cav Archers, if I sent the Skirm the cossacks would absolutely plow through them.

What was the solution here? Had I used Bow Riders would that fight have gone better?

    Visible en route shipments?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:03 PM PDT

I played AOE3(the original one) a few years back, and recently reinstalled it.

I seem to remember that when i played it,you could see the shipments en route if you switched to home city view. Like, you ask for crates, you see them being delivered to the harbor, you ask for Janissaries, you see them strolling around, etc

But i played around a bit, checked a few times where it wouldnt disrupt the gameplay, and i didn't see it at all.

Am i misremembering,is it some setting that needs turned on,or do only some shipments do it and i just checked the ones that don't?

So, what did everyone name their United States general/explorer?

I'm thinking of either Wolololington, Abrodolph Lincoler, or God-Emperor Trumpty.

    Maryland Challenge is Bugged

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 04:12 PM PDT

Hello everyone. I have been going through the challenges for the USA and I am stuck on Maryland. It does not seem to count that I have been doing games and building church's. I have tried quite a few different things but it seems to not be counting. I am thinking that it is Bugged and they might need to patch it up a bit.

For some reason the 50 states challenge didn't update when I won my first challenge as the British. I clicked "begin" from the challenge screen, set up the skirmish, played, and won. Any ideas?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:27 AM PDT

Played with a buddy the other day and was running state militia, carbines, and cree trackers and it was preeeeetty good with cards and arsenal. My pal ran mostly Gatling guns and whatever infantry he felt like. So I wonder what's your fave unit for these guys?

What's the best civilization to beat the French?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:32 AM PDT

Actually the question should be are there even one? The French just seem overpowered, Gendarmes/Voltigeurs combination is lethal and their late game economy is top notch, so what's the best civilization to beat this almost perfect civ?
