Posted: 02 Apr 2021 08:06 PM PDT T90 sent out messages to all his subscribers to thank them for supporting Hidden Cup 4, as well as announcing he'll return to streaming next week. I don't know about you guys (I follow him more on Youtube than I do Twitch tbh) but it feels nice being acknowledged by such a big name in any community. Even if the message feels robotic and mass produced, you can tell t90 wrote the message himself and means it. Don't mean to fanboy for t90, just wanna say I appreciate being noticed by t90Senpai for simply being there to support the events. You certainly can't get that sense of community from larger esports like DOTA and LoL. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:02 AM PDT Hey all, I finally have some free time and decided to give a little back to the community. I am offering some free 1 on 1 coaching for Age of Empires 2 DE. This is my profile on AOE nexus. https://aoenexus.com/profile/#11679-3 There isn't a set limit on the amount of coaching. The ideal candidate is someone who is between 1100-1400 and is fluent in English. Contact me on discord at HighFlyer#9356. For the most part, this will be first come first serve. Noob advice: if you're diving into ranked, start with 1v1 Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:17 AM PDT At least a one game. Just to set your starting Elo around 1000. It's counter intuitive, because being carried in multiplayer is more beginner friendly. But the reason is the peculiar rating system of Age of Empire: The very first ranked game you play, you will have an provisional Elo of 1000 (+-50 depending on the result of your first match): provisional because it will fluctuate more at first. Now if you jump into a new category, your Elo from your former category will be taken into account to give you a provisional rating in the new category. All good, skills do correlate across categories, so it should give a more accurate initial rating, thus converging faster, right? WRONG!! Team Elo system, is utterly broken, in a very inflationary way. It means if you start playing team, only with friends a bit stronger than you (or even just with rando around your levels), you can really well be worth 600 1v1Elo, but rated 1400 team. And that will be your provisional SP rating should you ever want to try that. Which means you will need a lot more ludicrous and completely useless defeats to converge to your Elo. Yes, you can insta resign, but between the queuing time, the 1 minute once a lobby is found, and loading time, you still waste easily 5-10 minutes per game, as well as desktop and server electricity (you don't directly pay for the later, but it's still a waste, polar bears are dying), of which you have to lose tens. And your opponents lose that too. So starting with one game in every category first, even insta resigning them, is the best one can do to mitigate that stupid system. Of course, the obvious fix would be for Forgotten Empires to hire a math or a CS undergrad intern; have her familiarize with the relevant par of the code for 1 month, have her learn the ins and outs of the Elo system for one week, have her fix the bug responsible for inflationary ratings in team game in one hour; give her one month to slack while the updates are pushed and tested, and have her fix the starting Elo in your non first category to use the correlation between ratings, and not just a one on one correspondence;if there is more time, let her think about Glicko2 and why its existence makes Elo obsolete and shameful to use in a video game. I'm suggesting an undergrad internship because I really hope that if they had the time and ability to fix it, they would already have done it. [link] [comments]

Will Burgundians and Sicilians receive a buff in a coming patch? Or are they ok as is? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:02 AM PDT Currently most pro players I've seen think Burgundians and Sicilians are either mediocre or just downright bad. Burgundians don't have a great early eco bonus, their Cavalier rush isn't too special because of how long it takes to research the upgrade and lack of Bloodlines, and their two unique techs are a bit gimmicky and don't really give the same power boost a lot of other UTs do. Coustillier isn't super strong especially after the nerf, and besides that they don't really have the most appealing late-game options. Sicilians meanwhile have no early eco bonus at all (farm upgrades won't kick in till late feudal at the earliest), their Donjon rush is weird because they have no tower bonuses like other tower rush civs (such as faster stone mining, faster builders, cheaper towers, etc) and Donjons are very expensive considering they aren't much stronger than a normal tower, plus the 2x2 footprint hurts as well. Serjeants aren't very good because they're a slow infantry unit who doesn't have great stats like Teutonic Knights do, and their tech tree especially in Imp is just really lacking. Yeah they have the bonus damage resistance but that only helps vs trash (and not even really hussars), not against most civs' main army comps. Do you think these civs will see a buff in coming patches? I'm sure the devs don't want the DLC civs to be the worst civs in the game, but I also don't think they should be top-tier meta because that would introduce a pay-to-win factor. What kind of buffs, if any, do you think they could get? Edit: Title should be Should instead of Will [link] [comments]
AOE2:DE How to fix the random multiplayer crashes? Posted: 03 Apr 2021 05:34 AM PDT Hey, Im having some random crashes when game just shuts down instantly usually during lategame situations. Is there any way how to fix this by some video settings or something perhaps? [link] [comments]
Mouse scrolls outside of game window during play Posted: 03 Apr 2021 09:57 AM PDT This has started happening for me recently. I am using three windows (two monitors and a laptop), and I'm playing on one of the monitors. I found this solution on forums.ageofempires.com, and I confirmed that the "Clamp mouse to window" option is selected. I even set all my options to the default settings. It still happens several times within a single minute. It's as if whatever is causing this issue is activating and deactivating, because sometimes the scrolling doesn't take me out past the game window. Has anyone found an additional workaround to this issue? [link] [comments]
FC Boom build order analyzed and maybe sheet to analyze other build orders Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:46 AM PDT Hello! A while ago I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/9nd5ng/economy_modules_and_build_order_dissection/ and I also made a flowchart with things build orders have in common. I wanted to continue with these tools available, so I wanted to analyze the build orders to see if there was a way to make them with modules. That way, if I need something for a BO, I add a module, and if I need something else, I add another. That´s why I made a google sheet that analyzed the FC Boom build order. When I finished it, I learned a couple of things about BOs (like that the modules change when you wait more time, so it´s difficult to make modules, except for BOs that have the same amount of pop when advancing to another age... I also learned that when you put some villagers to extract resources, you can´t determine which was for one thing or the other... you need all the villagers for something, but for an amount of time), but realize that it was a little difficult to do that. That´s why I thought this was useless, except maybe to see how BOs work. Today I saw a post about "building an early econ model" and I thought this could maybe be helpful to make that, to make a sheet where you can change the values and see the result of the build order, at least in theory. I leave it here. If you realize another use, tell me about it (or if you have an idea of how to make a build order modules chart). I also don´t know if the values of resources extracted per minute are ok, but you can change them from the chart at the right of the sheet. Good Luck! [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Apr 2021 03:22 AM PDT I am pretty sure almost all of you have experienced the lag when you/enemy clicks up to next age. Now, I was watching a replay with fast speed when both players clicked up, it lagged and suddenly boom! Blue screen of death! I would suggest devs to fix this lag as soon as possible. It has been there for so many weeks already. And it also starts to cause some serious issues (memory leaks). [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Apr 2021 04:13 AM PDT Does anyone around 1400-1500 fancy playing some 1v1s against me whilst on discord I'm stuck at 1300-1350 and I'd love the insight of a slightly better player, really trying to break through the wall! [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Apr 2021 10:27 AM PDT This could create some very interesting games since trade would become possible in a 1v1, as long as you can control the center of the map. If you can't, you'll get gold-burned fairly quickly. This kind of map would be great, IMO, for gold-dependent civs like the Turks, Spanish, etc., as well as for affording things like Paladins that are normally a poor choice in 1v1 due to cost. Of course, if just one Market is too few, there could obviously be variations, but having maps with neutral Markets could be a good way to spice things up. This probably won't be made by the devs, but does such a map exist as a custom map? [link] [comments]
