Looking for twitch channels that cast games instead of streaming POV gameplay Posted: 18 Oct 2021 02:56 AM PDT For reasons many people will be looking for a new place to watch AoE2 on twitch. I know a few of the big names that stream AoE2 on twitch, but most of them are players streaming their POV. I personally don't really enjoy watching player POV, because of how hectic the "camera" jumps all over the place as they power through their hotkeys. I am looking for a list of AoE2 twitch streamers that only/mainly do casting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate such a list. Edit: Thanks for all your suggestions. Is anyone else annoyed by the announcement being so hyped Posted: 17 Oct 2021 09:29 PM PDT I'll preface this saying that I love this game and all things aoe2 and want it to thrive, naturally I get hyped about its future I remember this first being mentioned by Nilli (maybe not the same thing?) late September as something bigger than hidden cup. Well as time went on, every big streamer was talking about this huge announcement and the hype just kept building. After it's delay the anticipation was through the roof only for it to be a negative announcement... Found a counter to Turk Fast Imp Posted: 18 Oct 2021 01:56 AM PDT Since the last update I am now forced to play Arena (since I do prefer it over Socotra etc) I now play it semi-regularly. As you are probably also quite familiar with this scene is rife with Turk pickers trying to wreck with a Fast Imp. I've tried many strats in the past but I've now beaten two Turk FI in a row by going for a 22 pop feudal, sending 3 on stone and four to tower. Then break in with a tower. Since the FI is so fragile this pretty much already throws their whole build off kilter. As soon as I get to feudal I get the eco upgrades so while we do the tower defence game I outboom them to castle and drop a castle, then just idle to imp into the win (play this one by ear). List of peculiar tech trees, by civ, incomplete (feel free to contribute and use as you wish). Posted: 18 Oct 2021 06:08 AM PDT Inspired by u/aflyingnun noticing something only the Malians have and this Trirem post. Civs with bonuses that replace or improve techs count as having them (Cumans "have" Husbandry, Celts "have" Squires, Franks "have" Bloodlines for their heavy cavalry,and so on, but Folwark isn't considered to be always better than Mill because of cost). Heresy/Faith aren't considered. If something peculiar is shared by more than two civs, it's not been included (I made an exception for having all eco techs). I hope there aren't too many mistakes, finding these patterns is not easy. Aztecs - Lack Galleons (along with Malians). Lack every upgrade for their Castles. Arbalesters lack Thumb Ring and Ring Archer Armor (along with Sicilians). Berbers - Bohemians - Non-meso civ without Cavalry Archer. Along with Teutons, only civ with fully upgraded Halberdier/Bombard Cannon/Hand Cannoneer. Between Monastery and University, can research the most technologies (only lacks one university tech). Britons - Bulgarians - Lack Fast Fire Ship/Heavy Demolition Ship as well as Dry Dock/Shipwright/Two-Man Saw. Lack Champion, Arbalester and Paladin (along with Tatars). Burgundians - Have all eco techs (along with Byzantines and Persians). Burmese - Lack Leather Archer Armor. Byzantines - Have all eco techs (along with Burgundians and Persians). Full Dock (along with Spanish). Celts - Only civ lacking 3 Imperial age Blacksmith technologies. Chinese - Have Bombard Tower, but lack Bombard Cannon as well as Hand Cannoneer. Cumans - Have Siege Ram and Siege Onager, but without Siege Engineers. Have Camel Rider, but not Heavy Camel Rider. Lack Stone Walls (along with Goths). Ethiopians - Full Siege Workshop. Franks - Goths - Lack Stone Walls (like the Cumans). Huns - Least amount of available techs. Lack Houses. Lack Onager, along with Turks. Incas - Full Barracks. Indians - Non-meso civ without Knights. Italians - Japanese - Full Archery Range (along with Saracens). Khmer - Koreans - Full University. Have fully upgradable Bombard Tower and Siege Onager. Have worst Hussar in the game. Lack Demolition Raft. Lithuanians - Magyars - Fully upgraded Heavy Cavalry Archer and Paladin. Malay - Lack Chain Barding Armor. Malians - Have each and every tech until Castle Age. Lack Galleons (along with Aztecs). Mayans - Mongols - Persians - Have less than three bonuses. Lack Two-Handed Swordsmen. Have all eco techs (along with Burgundians and Byzantines). Poles - Lack Halberdier, Camel Rider or a Unique Unit with a bonus against Cavalry, and have no bonuses for their Pikemen. Lack Mill. Portuguese - Saracens - Can't upgrade their Knights to Cavaliers. Full Archery Range (along with Japanese), Monastery and Blacksmith. Sicilians - Only civ without Watch Tower (has Donjon instead). Arbalesters lack Thumb Ring and Ring Archer Armor (along with Sicilians). Slavs - Spanish - Fully upgraded Elite Skirmisher/Hussar/Halberdier. Full Dock, along with Byzantines. Lack Crossbowman, along with Bulgarians. Have most complete tech tree? Tatars - Lack Chain Mail Armor. Lack Champion, Arbalester and Paladin (along with Bulgarians). Teutons - Have more than five civ bonuses. Have Bombard Tower, Paladin and Siege Onager. Only non-Meso civ without Light Cavalry. How to control scorpion? Posted: 17 Oct 2021 04:06 PM PDT I tend to have trouble use them effectively. What stance or formation do you press, for example, against pikes and crossbow mix? I wanted to shoot pikes while the knights chase the crossbow. But what ended up happening is the scorpions don't shoot and simply being chased by the pikes. Melee vs Ranged Posted: 17 Oct 2021 11:23 PM PDT Rather new ranked player at about 1000 elo here. I seem to really struggle against massed ranged units aka Arbs, longbows, hand cannons etc. I love playing melee units but nothing seems to be a decent counter. I hate pouring a ton of resources into skirms simply to answer and mangonels can quite often get outranged/outmicroed (still practicing on this). Is there any sense in going for a more melee counter?
