Campaign Concept - The Great Unifiers

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 10:06 PM PST

For decades, clans in Japan have been embroiled in ongoing civil wars. All that will change when three daimyos: Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu set out to unify Japan under a single ruler and end the civil wars forever. Besides dealing with well-disciplined Samurai of your rivals, there's also Korean ironclad armadas to look forward to.

In this campaign, you will play as the Japanese.

    Scenarios:

    1. Nobunaga's Rise (Oda Nobunaga;based on the battles of Okehazama and Inabayama Castle)
    2. Honno-ji (Toyotomi Hideyoshi/Oda Nobunaga)
    3. Rival Clans (Toyotomi Hideyoshi; based on Hideyoshi's campaigns to unify Japan)
    4. Ambitions Overseas (Toyotomi Hideyoshi; based on the conquest of Korea before Admiral Yi)
    5. The Battle of Sekigahara (Tokugawa Ieyasu)
    6. The Siege of Osaka (Tokugawa Ieyasu)

Scenarios can be subject to change.

how many archers do you mass in feudal age to attack?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 07:45 AM PST

I see people start attacking with 3-4 archers, but isn't it not enough because 2-3 scouts/skirms can easily beat them?

I personally mass until 20-ish so that I could one-shot any feudal units, is this an overkill?

    Hit 1100!

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 07:54 PM PST

I played a team game where my side got rolled and outplayed. My teammate on the other side was toxic the whole time. He then cued up against me 1v1. It was arena and I went random and he went poles. I got Magyars which, funny enough, has one of lowest Win rates on arena. I then proceeded to get all of the relics and maintain map presence and ended up beating him. And I couldn't think of a better game to hit 1100!

How to deal with this Mongol strategy?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 07:40 AM PST

If all they do is FC and mangudai, I have a decent win rate by applying huge castle age pressure with knights ( I am using Bulgarian or Franks) . But, if they start to do camels and CA in castle age, I find it a lot harder to push with my knights + pikes effectively as their mobility seem to be a problem. I added in scorpions and it is still not cost effective. Without being able to give them huge pressure, they boom and then transition to mangudai and then I gg in Imp

Up to an hour ban at no fault.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 07:03 AM PST

Devs, FIX THIS BULLSHIT. In the span of 24 hours I've had three games end prior to the 5 minute mark, through no fault of my own, and now I'm up to a 60 minute ban. How the hell is this better than what we've had before? Devs, you guys suck, seriously, if you're reading this, you guys suck.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 12:25 PM PST

    Hi All,

Some bad news, we have had to reschedule our 1v1 custom maps tournament due to a cascade of unfortunate circumstances. But, GOOD NEWS! We have an alternative date, a prize pool, and longer run time. So, it is no longer going to be run over a single weekend.

The new start date is the 17th of January. If you have already signed up, you will need to submit a google form anyway.

All of the details can be found here:

    Etiquette in AOE

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 02:13 AM PST

Correct behaviour in AOE is very important to most players, but i feel like not every player has the same oppinion about what correct behaviour is: For example writing GG first when youre winning is considered unfriendly. But what when the enemy has already resigned?
Once i won a game and the opponent wrote "stupid Civ" and i wrote "gg", bc i didnt even know wheather he meant mine or his civ, so instread of starting a dicoussion i thought im just polite and write GG, he then was very upset and said "learn etiquette"
So do you think as a winner it is...
