    Ignoring Armor isent broken

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 02:41 PM PDT

Because a lot of People are crying about the UT and say "Ignoring Armor is broken".

    It is not.

    Here is the Math:

First of all we will only look at Infantry. Mainly because their cav is not worth speaking of ;)

Their Infantry has -2 attack. Their lack of Blastfurnance is here important

It means u HAVE to build a castle an u have to research the UT. This is far more expensive than just researching Blastfurnance at the blacksmith!

Now lets look at the Effect: We can ignore melee armor. (Without upgrades) Halb have 0 Champions have 1 Scouts 0 Knights 2

Now lets ad the +3 Armor from upgrades: How much damage do we with the tech researched? Against: Halbs/Scouts +1 Champions +2 Knights +3

Compared with other Unique Techs like Aztek +4 or Druschina, it seems balanced.

Against uu it is hard to say:

Useless against: woodraiders, Samurai, Huscarls, Jaguars, Kamayuks, Berserks

Somehow usefull : Serjants, Bojars Notice: TKs still have 100 HP 14 attack

CONCLUSION: Compared to other unique Infantry techs and bonuses (Burmese, Azteks, japanese, Slaws) the Tech is overwhelmingly good. Far from broken. Maybe Situationly.

PS: if the elephant Archer (they are still cav) ignore pierce Armor, they could be good vs Skirms and Hussars.

What would be some nice Quality of Life updates for this game?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 02:13 PM PDT

I think it would be cool to have a peasant repair a selected group of siege weapons automatically instead of just doing the one you clicked on

Struggling jumping from moderate to hard AI in 1v1

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 10:38 PM PDT

My friend and I are getting into AoE 2 right now and loving it for most of the time. Have learned build orders and different rushes and have enjoyed playing 2v2 against moderate and hard AI. Moderate is way to easy for us now since there is a village cap and hard is just right. But if we do 1v1 against hard AI, they have 30 units rushing in at feudal or early castle age and even with decent efficiency, it seems like a big jump to handle. Any suggestions?

Game says it's installing every time I launch it

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 07:29 PM PDT

Hey all, I've been having some issues with launching AoE2:DE on Steam. I just purchased the game, and I have no mods or anything except for the free Enhanced Graphics Pack from the steam store.

The first time I launched the game, it was a little slow, but nothing too extreme. When I got into game, it told me about the enhanced graphics pack, so I closed out and downloaded that from the steam store page. Now, every time I try to launch the game, it takes 10+ minutes because it says it's installing, with extreme estimated times (It lists expected wait time as "> 1 Year")

Eventually the game does launch, without finishing whatever it's trying to install, but the loading times feel very slow, and my whole computer slows down while Steam says that AoE2 is installing. When I get into a game it runs smoothly, but it's just as likely to just hang on the loading screen until I force close the game.

So... anyone else experience this? And hopefully have solutions?

Which, if any, Castle Age Units are viable in Imp? Assume Imp upgrades.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 02:35 PM PDT

Would ludakris map size accommodate 42 civs (the total number we currently have)?Wouldn’t that be awesome?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 10:48 AM PDT

Tell me that wouldn't be awesome

I wish AoE2 had more ship-to-ship combat options

    Posted: 15 Apr 2022 04:29 PM PDT

You basically have fire and demo ships and galleons for your basic naval ship-to-ship combat capabilities (and longship if you're Vikings). Then you have your cannon galleons for anti-building assaults once you get to the Imperial age.

But does anyone else wish the game had more gunpowder naval units? I'm thinking things like your classic broadside cannon ships. It would be so cool to have a fleet of broadside ships lined up next to a coastal enemy stronghold bombarding it. They could be strong against both other naval units and buildings with high single-shot damage, but also have the tradeoff that they have low fire rate and also have to face sideways to attack.
