Hidden Cup 3 request to T90

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:54 AM PST

Hey man, don't know if you'll see this, but could you make a chronological playlist on your YouTube channel?

Last year I had to piece it together myself by looking at the tournament tree a lot and even then I think I missed a few of the games or inevitably spoiled some of the results.

Or even a single, 15 hour long video might work.

    Cheers! Matthew

    Siege towers crash the game

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 01:52 AM PST

I don't know if the devs know about this yet, but siege towers can instantly crash the game. It has happened several times to me against the AI, and here are some videos of it happening to someone in the campaigns. I do not know if it happens in multiplayer. I think it has to do with moving the siege tower away from the wall it's targetting.

How do you counter khmer mass scorpion on arena?

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:28 AM PST

I understand that you should try to take out khmer in feudal or early castle but on arena this is very unlikely. Cavalry and monks are generally mowed down instantly. And the SO struggle due to the bonus range of the khmer scorpions and the constant hussar spam so I've been struggling to find an answer

    General tips for ranked maps

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 12:14 AM PST

Is there any video, guide or tips page for the different maps? If not, let's discuss here.

Any good tips I will add to the description (with your name in brackets). Thanks!

Here are my general findings for the different maps:

    Nomad:

    • Build your TC as soon as possible next to wood
    • Send a villager to the side of the map to build a dock + fishing as soon as you have the wood
    • Drushing is usually less effective due to good town center placement near wood

    Team Islands:

    • Try to have buildings around your coastline to see landings, or at least let your scout patrol the coastline (shift click around your island)
    • Go early for water

    Gold Rush:

    • Don't build casual buildings or farms in the middle of the map, just build fortifications there and mine gold.

    Arena:

    • Fetch your sheep outside the walls immediately, people can easily steal them (more than other maps)
    • Build your buildings against the wall for extra defense, it also helps against siege towers
    • Don't waste time in feudal age, there is nothing you can do there (except the Cumans perhaps)

    Arabia:

    • Rushing has more potential here than on most other maps

    Mega Random:

    • Scouting is super important here, more so than on other maps. So if you don't get a scout, do it with a villager, a sheep or any other unit.

    Steppe:

    • Spread out your villagers to the side of the map to find a good location near wood

    Black forest:

    • After you are walled in, check your area again if a enemy vil sneaked through anywhere
    • Build your lumbercamps on the offsite ("behind your TC") to your enemy to hold up your eco if you get rushed
    • Dont build castles near your walls, let there be enough space so your enemy cant treb them
    • Wall small wood + outpost against onagerrush

On average, how many fishing ships can sustain a TC?

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:37 AM PST

I'm trying to make a rough nomad build order (more sort of a guideline) and I need your insights on that. I don't play that much water maps to asses this. Let's assume you have a mediocre fish (not next to dock, not damn far away)

Bonus question? Is there a build order calculation tool? For example I put 6 vils on food, 3 on wood and 2 on gold then run the simulation to see resources per minute.

For any new players who are still playing HD... A quick warning about letting players set teams...

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 01:17 PM PST

He is currently going by the name Sandman.

They will set "fair teams", secretly putting one of their mates on your side.

They will then attempt to completely sabotage your team, doing shit like walling off resources, walling you from your team mates etc. Probs won't respond to any messages.

I called them out on it right away. They admitted there was a plant on our team.

I decided to quit, made no fuss. Got a picture and added their names to a personal blacklist.

Got my eye on you, ya fucks. Not very original, I'm guessing someone who got violently shaken as a baby has more of a brain than you, if you enjoy that boring cancerous behaviour.

    Prototyping "Quality of Life"-improvements

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:44 AM PST

DISCLAIMER: I am aware that these prototypes are working in multiplayer matches and would provide an unfair advantage to the player using them (a.k.a cheating). I therefor will not share the code. This is a proof of concept and I would like to hear your opinion. Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIYZImz8Kwg&feature=share

Select / Deselect injured units: Bound to mouse 4 / mouse 5. Extremely useful in every phase of the game. During boar hunting, farm placement, and especially between the last battles in the endgame. In the current state I can configure it to only select units below a certain threshold. Say below 80%.

This feature should only be available once a group of units has been out of combat for 3-5 seconds, otherwise it would be a cheap way to micro while in combat. Out of combat this would greatly improve army management. (Garrison / send to group of monks all the injured units, while being efficient with the healthy part of the army)

Deselect n of selection: Bound to Capslock + number. Usage: You have a group of villagers and would like to build a lumber camp with 4? Command all to build a lumber camp and press Capslock + 4. This will deselect 4 villagers. You can then command the rest to do something else. This is very useful when managing large groups of villagers.

Deselect 1 from selection: Bound to Capslock. Usage: Spreading units, scouting different corners with multiple units, assigning monks to different relics or conversion targets. Hitting Capslock once (without a number) will deselect the first unit from the current selection.

    What do you think? :)

What New Civ Balance Changes are you Expecting or Hoping to See in the Upcoming Patch?

    Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:13 PM PST

Everyone's talking about the auto-scout thing, but I'm way more interested in the devs talking about substantial changes to civ balance.

I'd like to see Viet get a bit of a buff and something Tatars since I feel like they got completely ignored in favor of Cumans on release.

A little survey on RM Maps Pool

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:15 AM PST

Almost everybody is complaining about the current pool of maps in the RM queue. But which maps do you actually want? Well then, I made a Google Form survey, let's collect some data, maybe the devs will consider it. Thanks for participating!

PS: the maps in the survey are standard maps filtered by "Show Suggested Maps".
