Am I missing something or are the Flamethrowers the most overpriced unit? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:02 PM PST Link to the wiki Edit: Apologies, link doesn't work due to an ) Stats should be around the same today. They are 170 wood and 170 gold and an insane 4 population cost. Falkonetts are 5, Hussars are 2, Curassier are 3 pop for the record. The Japanese Daimiyo or Shogun (Dude with 2k HP) costs 4 population. I have never seen any competitive Chinese player use this unit. And I myself have never encountered a situation where I would have considered this unit. It has pitiful range and 4,25 speed, which means it gets kited quite easily. As far as I know, the fire attack does not snare either. If you want anti-infantry, build Changdao/Skirm or Iron Flail/Skirm army and ship repelling volley + Changao/Arkebusier Hitpoints. Are the devs aware of this? Could we expect changes to this unit to make it viable? How is such an overpriced unit ever useful? They should atleast reduce the pop cost from 4 to 3 and reduce the wood/gold cost... Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:48 PM PST So I'm supposed to play a 2 v 1 match against 2 of my friends. 1 of them is playing as the Aztecs, and the other as the Portuguese. What would be a good civ that'd be able to handle them? I've been playing a decent amount of India and been getting fairly familiar with them, my big concern there is that outside of the consulate, there isn't any anti-infantry artillery to handle the Aztecs. So would the Indians be fine in this or is there a better civ I should be looking at? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:12 AM PST I feel like the Aztecs were pretty weak at the release of DE but it looks like they got a few buffs in the last few updates. How good/bad are they? Are they viable? Is there a specific strategy that really makes them shine? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:58 AM PST I don't know what is going on, but recently it's been really bad... case in point, I do a team game today. We agree on a strategy and things get going... quite quickly it's apparent my teammates are NOT keeping up. When the game ended at the 20 minute mark, the enemy's scores were: 25k 32k 28k My team... 4k (with Brits no less!) 9k 29k (me) My teammates' scores were not due to being raided or gutted at any point in the game, which would be understandable... they just weren't at the same level. I check ELOs... the other team is all around where I am -- about 1200. My teammates were at 815 and 915. Completely unbalanced! I had assumed the matchmaking server would try to make teams with roughly equal ELOs, but their combined was around 3600 and ours was about 2900 -- a huge difference that could have been remedied by swapping one player on each team. I wondered if it might have been due to the other team all being a clan / playing together (making matchmaking harder) but there was no indication that that's the case. Anyone know why the matchmaking keeps doing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 03:39 PM PST Im a main Spain player and now that after years of playing casual im starting playing more competitive I have started to found a problem that I dont know how to avoid it. The thing is I prefear team games over 1vs1 and in this kind of games is very normal that the match go to age 4 or even 5 and here is when my problem enters. The army that I generally use is composed the of pikemen, lancers and cannons (falconets or heavy canons) and in general it works very well, pikemen protect canons from cav while lancers destroy the enemy inf so i can send pikemen to kill the cav without worring. But there is one case that Im not able to counter effectively no matter what, when the oponent goes full light cav and I dont have the support of special units of my team mates to counter them. They are just to fast to be catch by rodeleros or pikemen and can fuck my lancers very easily, problem that result in my army being uterly destroyed in age 5. So my question is, what is the best conbination of trops to use if you reach late game with Spain? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:16 AM PST How to make pillerless walls? Im doing the steps laid out in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpKBr-_7fn0 . However I end up with gaps between the walls. I make sure that there are only 3 pillers and the wall is created just before the wall 'snaps' to having 4 pillers. Then I select a piller, press the 'select all units of the same type' hotkey, and delete them. What I end up is a wall with no pillers but huge gaps where units can simply walk through. Is there anymore to building pillerless walls? [link] [comments]
Fixing/Replacing Community Plaza? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:30 PM PST So I mostly main the rushy Native civs, and though I was very excited for DE, that was dashed for a few reasons. While they've fixed a few (I like the new buff to the Aztec warchief), the Community Plaza still makes the game all but unplayable for me. Putting aside that I think it's actually really disrespectful to replace dancing — a unique and crucial cultural aspect for all three of the original native civs — with a bunch of sticks that they all stand around doing nothing on, that standing around and doing nothing makes it very hard to tell who's working and who isn't. So, I'm wondering if there are any suggestions people have for either modding this away, or changing how I play so that this isn't as much of a nuisance. Maybe I'm missing something? Any tips for fighting a hard computer in the winter wonderland map? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:53 AM PST Ive played AoE 3 since it came out. Standard difficulty has always been good enough for me and I haven't learned to get much better on that. I typically play either 1v1c or 2v2c. In 2v2c either I act as a punching bag or my team mate does while the other tosses a few troops into the slaughter until they are strong enough to take out one computer on their own. I have beaten the computer on impossible only on amazon by racing to get ships out and blowing up their harbor while patrolling the shore all game. That wont work in Winter Wonderland. I normally play as the brits for the 1 free villager and the grenadiers, japan for their Yabusame, or Aztec for either Skull Knights or Arrow Knights as well as the dance party buffs. Im guessing Japan might not be the best choice in hard mode if they decide to go after my shrines. I tried with the brits but I couldnt last more then a few attacks. The one time I did last a while against the computer, the game crashed but admittedly I was both low on resources and units. Also, is there an easier AI to go against? Henry the navigator seemed to stay ahead of me score wise by a small margian of about 10% or so while Maurice jumped ahead of my score by nearly double as well as sending a mass towards my base shortly after hitting age 2. So yeah. Any tips for this? Cards? Build order? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:41 AM PST So I've got 3/4 Christmas themed profile pics but when I go to get the 4th and press "start" and "single player" even if I win the King of the Hill game it doesn't work. [link] [comments]
The weirdest bug that I've ever found in a game... Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:25 AM PST Kind of extremely frustrated at this point but I was super hyped for AoE 3 DE. However, one thing destroyed any chance to have fun with the game and it is a problem that I cannot see listed anywhere except by me... And I barely can explain what is going on adequately... Since the Beta (I was there since day 1) my game refuses to save any personal data (which means: Hotkeys, Campaign Progress, Game Settings). I can do Achievements, Event Challenges and even level up homecities. But that's all and only because these things are actually bound to your Xbox Account. Having no hotkeys or game settings is a deal breaker for someone who loved Multiplayer... I am simply lost right now. Can someone help me out with this issue? I reinstalled my OS, my AoE III copy and also tried to search for any issue with my Registry... But didn't make any progress on solving it. The problem stills the same. EVERY time that I start the game, I read the same huge pop-up about cultural changes along with the following pop-up with 3 interfaces that you can pick to play the game. every single time. You guys have no idea on how it can be sad to realize that my game will never function properly. You can read my problem being "solved" here: https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/requests/2891 as a bonus, every new update is a pain because the game needs a ridiculous amount of time to install updates. The download is slow and once it is done, it takes a lot of time to have it unpacked and installed. No other game shows the same behaviour in my steam. https://support.ageofempires.com/hc/en-us/requests/3909 tl dr: what means if my game can't save any personal data (only AoE 3 DE does that among all other AoE games that I own) [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:22 AM PST Did they add these to DE? I don't remember them being in the original. Is there a point in making them ever? How do they compare to gold units? [link] [comments] |
