What if the devs announced a major expansion of the water game on April 10th? Posted: 19 Mar 2021 05:04 AM PDT AoE doesn't have a particularly deep water game, let's be honest. So what if one of the AoE 2 announcements on April 10th was some sort of improvement of the games' water combat system? Would any of you be keen for that? The last time the water meta was expanded (outside of individual civ balancing) was with the addition of the fire galley and demo raft iirc. What kind of new stuff could they add to buoy the game's naval experience? [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Mar 2021 06:04 AM PDT Hi to everyone. Unfortunaly, I cannot watch the HC4 round of 16 yesterday and today as I have to work. Should I watch the quarter/semi/final this week, withouth watching the round of 16? From one hand I would like to see some match live but, from the other hand, I do not want to spoil the final result of the round of 16, in case I decide to watch them later on. For you guys who are watching the whole tournament live, do the round of 16 have some good match? Or do you think they are just ok? [link] [comments]
4 tips on getting the best performance for aoe2de (on laptop) Posted: 19 Mar 2021 04:30 AM PDT So after picking up AOE2DE a little over a year ago, I've made some changes to my set up to slowly but surely make playing this wonderful game even better. Starting with easiest these are: 1) Turn all graphic mods on low in game (self explanatory) 2) Close all other programs while playing (especially chrome) you'd be surprised how much of a difference this makes 3) Open task manager, details, right-click aoe2 and "set priority" to high (makes a massive difference, but needs to be done every time you open the game) 4) buy a laptop fan (I got mine for $28AUD and it prevents my laptop from overheating in long sessions, previously after a few hours lag would drastically increase) The first 3 steps were actually enough to make the game run perfectly fine on my laptop, the problem was that I was also trying to stream which sucked out much needed cpu power. The fan has actually made a massive difference in that regard. Hope this helps anyone out there who's struggling! [link] [comments]
Suggestion for the quick play mode. Posted: 19 Mar 2021 05:56 AM PDT I think the quick play more is redundant because it features many of the same maps and game modes as the regular ranked queue. Other games such as League of Legends get away with it because they have so many more players. But in the case of AoE, to justify an entirely separate queue it should differentiate itself more from the regular ranked queue and feature more unique, varied game modes. My idea is to replace the quick play mode with a queue for different game modes that would alternate weekly or biweekly (so as not to split the player base too much). the roster of alternating game modes could include CBA, Pilgrims, battle royale, coop scenarios, FFA land nomad etc. I think it would give the FE content creators more freedom to be audacious with their game mode ideas, because if one particular game mode were received poorly it wouldn't matter as much because it would eventually alternate to something different.
