    Where are those curtains?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 03:33 AM PDT

Since Hera moved I've got no news whatsoever of his beautiful, precious curtains. Oh sure at the beginning he said that they were carefully packed, and that we would see them back soon...

I'm getting really worried about it, someone has any clue about what happened to them?

If they replaced battle royale mode, what would you want it replaced with?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 08:42 PM PDT

So the Battle Royale was fun for a few weeks but it's... pretty dead now. Like impossible to find a quick play game.

So if they were to permanently replace it as an option (or replace the game mode weekly). What would you want it replaced with?

    My thoughts would be:

Official version of CBA (work with original devs, make something less buggy, ect.)

FOREST NOTHING FFA (Or pilgrims nothing)

    King of the hill

    Regicide Fortress diplomacy!

    Capture the relic

Basically just different "strange" game modes that actually have a following.

What other game modes would you guys be interested in seeing replace battle royale?

    Graphical comparison: AOE2 v AOE4, round 2

Seems like the lower ELOs are getting better

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 07:43 PM PDT

A month ago I was dominating at 1200, winning early castle each game, having people call me a smurf (that felt nice), but now I'm struggling at 1150. Seems like the players are getting better at Low Elos.

    Anyone else notice this?

    HC4 effect?

Definitive Edition edits the story in the Henry the Lion Scenario

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 06:28 AM PDT

According to the Henry the Lion Scenario in the original AOE2 the Intro has this to say.

The empire was in full bloom, and her population was rapidly expanding. The Germans felled forests, drained marshlands, and reclaimed land from the sea itself. But there was still not enough space. Bringing the vastness of Poland into the empire would ease the pressure on the empire's borders. To deal with Poland, Barbarossa called up one of his mightiest vassals, Henry the Lion. Henry was a powerful prince of Saxony, and his decadent palaces outshown the emperor's own. While he swore fealty to Barbarossa, some questioned whether Henry the Lion did not want the Empire for his own. By ordering Henry the Lion to aid in the subjugation of Poland, Barbarossa meant to test his oath of allegiance once and for all.

Wheras this definitive edition changes it to this

The empire was in full bloom, and her population was rapidly expanding. The Germans felled forests, drained marshlands, and reclaimed land from the sea itself. This newfound prosperity made expansion too tempting to resist. Eager to test his military might, Barbarossa set his sights east towards the Kingdom of Poland. To assist in his invasion, Barbarossa called up one of his mightiest vassals, Henry the Lion.

There's no reason for this, both descriptions of German intervention in Poland at this time are incorrect as Barbarossa intervened on behalf of the Polish Duke who had been overthrown by his brother and once again once the new illegitimate Duke of Poland was caught breaking the conditions of their peace agreement. It's just very specific as I couldn't find any change in the intro or outro to scenarios other than this one which makes me think some Polish guy got his hands on it because his history class taught him that the Lechic Empire had ruled Scandinavia and Gaul for 70,000 years or something.

Supposing we are to receive two new Slavic civs, I think it would be best if they renamed the current “Slavs” civ to “Kievan Rus,” “Ruthenians,” or “Ukrainians.”

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 03:59 PM PDT

This will allow them to keep the civ the same while making room to introduce the Poles, Bohemians, Russians (Moscovite Russians or Novgorod) or a Baltic state.

I don't think this is too far fetched considering that the Slavs civ already features the Kievan Rus (Ukrainian) blue with gold trizub on their flag. The Slavs civ definitely represents the Rus people as of now, so renaming them to this isn't a big deal whatsoever.

I know the idea of more civs is somewhat controversial, but I'm of the opinion that more content is always good. I don't see any indicators of a pay to win culture brewing, so bring on the new civs, I say. If they start a precedent of breaking umbrella civs into smaller ones I would love to see where they will go with Indians or Italians at a later time.

    RoN Bonuses in AoE2?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 06:03 AM PDT

I've played Rise of Nations for quite a while.

I've recently discovered that coincidentally, some of the civs in AoE2 has similar bonuses in Rise.

Few Examples: - AoE2 Malian Tigui = RoN Mayan Town Center firing arrows - Both RoN Egyptians and AoE2 Burgundians have farms that generate gold.

If RON bonuses are incorporated in AOE2, which one would you want to have any of these bonuses?

    • Inca in Age2 have a bonus where gold miners gather stone as well as gold

    • Mongols can train CA in Feudal Age, and receive 2 free HCA upon a Archery Range completion, Or Turks receive free BBC when siege workshop is built

    • Maybe Teutons gain +1 resource for every military owned like the Americans in Rise!

    • the Indians get a elephant bombard, that's good too!

    • Spanish or Portuguese start the game with explored map

    Fancy having more
