I love all of the hype around all of the new AoE content and am excited that they are putting so much effort into making AoE IV successful. Everyone will have their thoughts on what they liked or disliked about the various announcements, but how can you not be stoked about something?!? I remember playing AoE in high school and hearing that Ensemble Studios would be shutting down and thinking that it would be the end of a franchise that I loved so much. I visited the merch store for the first time and had to pick up an AOE IV beer stein afterwards to support my drinking...err Age of Empires habit (https://gear.xbox.com/collections/age-of-empires/products/age-of-empires-iv-limited-edition-personalized-stein). | Why US is a bad civ (disclaimer: I’ve never played the civ) Posted: 12 Apr 2021 10:57 PM PDT Im talking about supremacy (not treaty) 1v1. US age up options suck. In age two, you only get things that are worth about 200 resources. Sure you unlock cards but they are not strong enough to compensate the reduced age up bonus. Your age three options are not good as well because you don't have an option to age up fast, unless you dedicate a shipment in colonial just to age up fast... Also your age three armies suck because your only upgraded units are sharpshooter, carbine cavalry and Gatling guns. You have to upgrade everything else. You have to manually upgrade hussars to get decent age three hand cav while French or Spanish get upgraded cavs... sure it's better than Brit, Japan or Russia but they can boom or rush better. US lack the capability to effectively rush or boom. Their colonial rush is not good because it's slow. They age up slow and the lack of good age up options makes them even slower. US also lacks good military shipments (like cav). The option to boom is limited. Sure your age one eco is probably the best because you can get something like 3cdb +bank in age one. But in age two your only viable options to boom is Pennsylvania+Meeting house card coin trickle which is about four vills. And Irish vills after five mins (another four vills). So you can send four vills twice and you can get market techs for free if you send another card but most civs can boom quicker and better! And don't tell me about Cree Cdbs or setter wagons they take ages to pay off (especially because you use a shipment and actually have to pay for them rather than get them for free). Age three Factory is nice but it's not that strong when you compare it with shipments like eight vills or even seven vills that are available for other civs. Also it is highly doubtful that the US can get away with that card after slow age up. Also Regular seems pretty weak because their cost is almost the same as Sepoy or Janissary (in villager seconds), but their health is as low as normal musketeers. Sure you have more range and better melee attack but that cannot stop your musks from dying from ranged attacks... Overall I'm looking forward to playing that civ!!! [link] [comments] | ||

I know it opens on April 13, how long do players have to complete it? For me personally, I wont be able to start the challenges until April 14. I'm going to spaz out so hard if i get to the second to last day and the challenge closes because there was an arbritary cap on the length and you had to have started on April 13. | Posted: 12 Apr 2021 01:46 PM PDT Back in the Lunar New Year event, I did all the challenges and got all the pictures, as well as someprogress on the cosmetic side of my home city. I left the game for a while and came back the other day, and it's all gone, with my home city back down to level 1... Has anyone else had this problem?
