Lyx says he wants to retire because of toxic chinese fans Posted: 05 May 2021 01:04 AM PDT The AoEZone thread: https://www.aoezone.net/threads/lyx-claims-retire.175243/ On Monday, WWP played a showmatch vs GL A (WWP lost 2:4) and during/after the showmatch Lyx got trashtalked, cursed, personally attacked, you name it. He also wasn't feeling too well, since the showmatch started 22:00/10pm their time.Result: Lyx quit ongoing and upcoming tournaments. He only wants to play TG with his friends. Obviously this caused many sad reactions and a chinese viewer translated and posted them in their AoE2 group on Douyu: https://yuba.douyu.com/p/884323791620162554 So if you want to express your feelings in a way that "The Teacher" will most likely read it, AoEZone is propably the way to go (although I hate it that you can't read everything if you aren't logged in). Fun fact, in the chinese community Lyx is called "Teacher Dong" and Yo is called "The Train" (because he likes the movie "Trainspotting"). As a team they are called "Bullet Train" ("Dong" means motion in chinese). [link] [comments]

Coaching stream on 8th of May, Saturday 11 GMT Posted: 05 May 2021 03:30 AM PDT This Saturday I'll be doing a coaching stream, where I'll analyze replays sent in from viewers, and provide my feedback on how to improve. There's no price tag or ELO restriction, anyone can submit a rec if they wish to. For reference my current elo is 1830. Link is: twitch dot tv slash dave_hun [link] [comments]
The devs got the range indicators wrong even though they were just ripping off an existing mod Posted: 04 May 2021 04:06 PM PDT If you've used the popular Age of Mandala mods before, you know that building range is calculated from the edges of the building, meaning the range edge is a rounded rectangle shape. Yet the new range indicator feature built into the game shows a perfect circle.... interesting. I did some tests and the circular range indicators are in fact wrong. Depending on where you stand you can be in the circle but out of range, or in range but not in the circle. The original Mandala indicator is correct. I'm generally happy to see the best ideas from the modding community get integrated into the stock game, but it's pretty pathetic that the official developers couldn't be bothered to copy the Mandala mods properly. It really shows a lack of respect for the modders trying to improve the game for us, with no reward other than our appreciation. More disturbingly, it shows a lack of understanding of how the game actually works... And yes, in addition to complaining here I also did the right thing and filed an official bug report. Wondering about Chinese AoE2 streamers? Posted: 05 May 2021 08:32 AM PDT What kind of numbers are they doing? Like how many views does Mr. Yo get on an average stream? ViVi? Hoang? I'm just curious, and I don't know where to go to find out. [link] [comments]

Civilization Match-up Discussion Round 11 Week 17: Franks vs Lithuanians Posted: 04 May 2021 09:28 PM PDT Oh boi - battle of the Paladins! Hello and welcome back for another Age of Empires 2 civilization match up discussion! This is a series where we discuss the various advantages, disadvantages, and quirks found within the numerous match ups of the game. The goal is to collectively gain a deeper understanding of how two civilizations interact with each other in a variety of different settings. Feel free to ask questions, pose strategies, or provide insight on how the two civilizations in question interact with each other on any map type and game mode. This is not limited to 1v1 either. Feel free to discuss how the civilizations compare in team games as well! So long as you are talking about how the two civilizations interact, anything is fair game! Last week we discussed the Byzantines vs Japanese, and next up is the Franks vs Lithuanians! Franks: Cavalry civilization
Lithuanians: Cavalry and Monk civilization
Below are some match up-specific talking points to get you all started. These are just to give people ideas, you do not need to address them specifically if you do not want to!
Thanks as always for participating! Next week we will continue our discussions with the Britons vs Cumans. Hope to see you there! :) [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 May 2021 06:54 AM PDT How did yous master build orders and hot keys? I've been playing this game no joke about 6 years. Very casually, I play de quite frequently. Usually just team games. I'm around 1100 elo, so I'm not the worst. I watch streams so I know most counters and strats, but I've never really tried many BO or hot keys. How did yous master it? I could get much better learning them and going to try it [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 May 2021 11:22 AM PDT Ever since the announcement I've learned just how much many members of this community hated being at the end of a noburu RUSH. We know those games can be messy and often just the thought of getting matched against Incas meant you had to be more alert and active especially with your scout and all hopes of a meta game had to be thrown out the window. Despite all the reasons Noburu was hated, I feel sad that this part of the game is gone and I'd like some answers so as to help me accept it. So I'd like to ask: Was this nerf necessary for the game? If you killed Noburu because it made the game messy does this mean we are to expect a laming nerf in the near future? Are there others like me who feel like aoe2 has forever lost a very unique and interesting strategy? I'm an average player at 1400 Elo and despite having lost to this many times, I've also won against it. Was this decision driven by lower Elo players? And if so would it not have been better for everyone to learn how to play against it. Yes I'm a little hurt by this change, but I do not mean to demean anyone's opinions. I honestly just want answers.
