| My favourite aspects of Age of Empires III Posted: 20 Aug 2021 03:07 AM PDT I generally like all AoE games, and I probably played AoE1 more than any other one. That said, there's some aspects about AoE3 I especially. Huge amount of units. There's so many units. Unique units for many civilisations, mercenaries, natives... I'm not even sure I've used all units once. They don't all have different niches (that would be impossible), but having everything from Conquistadors to cowboys is great! Customisation. The card system has always been a matter of debate, and I don't think it's the right choice for all AoE games. However, it does introduce unprecedented customisation, and picking a focus (e.g. maximising Yumi archers) is fun and satisfying. There's also alliances with non-Asian civilisations, and natives to pick from. Great! Huge bonuses. The bonuses are so chunky. I remember picking all bonuses related to strengthening my walls for the final scenario of the Chinese campaign. It was great to have those walls with 10,000+ hit points. The bonuses feel impactful. | Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:16 PM PDT Hey guys, I got back into AOE III a few weeks ago, started enjoying online and decided to upgrade to DE. Am I missing it or is there no way to view the ELO/rank/rating of the person you're playing against? I've been using quick match and the lobby doesn't seem to have any options, after I exit out of the game I can't find any stats at all about opponents. AOE III legacy had a website where you could lookup your username or your opponent's and find all sort of stats, does DE have something similar? There was also an option on the old game to search a user under home city and see their rating and win %... knowing the skill/experience level of the person I just played or am about to play has always been a big part of 1v1 gaming for me improvement and fun wise. | Posted: 19 Aug 2021 01:57 PM PDT Alright, help me out here. Back in the day you could rename your explorer and home city by editing an XML file, if I remember. I've seen videos where it has been done, but I poked around the files for a little while and can't figure it out. How do I do it in the Definitive Edition? I have the Steam version, if that affects it. Thanks! P.S. Is there somewhere I can find the list of all possible explorer names for each civilization? [link] [comments] | ||
