This is an appreciation post to the Aoe3 team Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:29 PM PDT You didn't have to go all out for us, but you did and we thank you for that. Nerf the Dahomey Amazons their really scary. [link] [comments]
How's everyone liking African Royals? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:55 PM PDT Could only play one game before having to get to sleep, lost two hours. Work is going to be hell, but it was totally worth it. Anyways; didn't get too good of a feel for it, and want to know what the community thinks. [link] [comments]
Review of "The Era of Princes" historical battle from an Ethiopian history buff Posted: 02 Aug 2021 05:29 PM PDT Considering both the premise of the scenario and the fact that this is one of only 3 single-player scenarios in the new expansion, I had high hopes for this historical battle. The historical Era of Princes in Ethiopia took place from 1769 to around 1855. Kassa Hailu's conquest of Ethiopia, which the scenario set out to showcase, mainly took place between 1852 and 1855. Consequently, the developers' choice to make an "The Era of Princes" scenario instead of a scenario around a particular battle of the conflict made me think the scenario would be sweeping, ambitious, complex, and well-rooted in the history. It was none of those things. For one, it's a painfully straightforward, boring scenario with a map with basically no diversity of geography or base construction. It can be beaten easily and quickly. It isn't pretty to look at. There is nothing particularly interesting in the landscape. For two, it's only very shallowly rooted in the history. Even the basic positioning of the factions makes no sense! Here are the few things it gets right:
Here are all the things the scenario either missed or got wrong:
Okay, that's it for now! I hope people interested in history find this interesting. I would say Ethiopia's Era of Princes is somewhat analogous to the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, for those familiar with that, minus the popular heroes. The only Era of Princes figure widely popular in Ethiopia today is Kassa Hailu. Also, spoiler alert: Kassa Hailu becomes a mad tyrant only a few years after becoming emperor and the entire country falls apart again as a consequence. His successor Yohannes, from Tigray, becomes the first emperor to enduringly unite the empire since the Era of Princes began. Despite the major shortcomings with the scenario, I still appreciate the representation and do not regret my purchase. Hope everyone is enjoying their days. :) [link] [comments]

Both new civs need more "team" cards Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:39 PM PDT For those who don't know what I mean, Ethiopians have 1 card total and Hausa have 2. Most other civs have at least around 5. [link] [comments]
Aussie_Drongo exceeds the limit. Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:31 AM PDT The game's one of the most known content creator constantly insults people in twitch streams with deepest words possible, he is also someone commissioned to promote the game and new DLCs, last night he had flamed me constantly for 2 hours meanwhile I was just sharing my opinion on why aztec late game is not good, disagreeing is fine but it's more than silly to insult people as deep as possible just because you disagree with their opinion imo, and it's not fixing to the character he pretends to show to people, at least out of the character he shows in the light. [spoiler alert] I kinda see the reason why Morocco/Berbers are not included in the dlc Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:36 AM PDT There is a new Morocan historical battle in the DLC. But similar to the Barbary mission, they have full unit rosters (this time even full voice lines), but re-uses Ottoman/mediterranean architecture and the Ottoman home city. This probably means: (1) it is unfinished, obviously (2) the culture of North Africa is drastically different from the other two African civilizations. It would feel wierd if Morocco has the same mechanics as Ethiopians/Hausa. It is probably going to be like the US, as a "old world" styled civ with a few distinct mechanics, rather than belonging to a whole new civilization group. In short: I hope they release a small Morocco dlc similar to the US one. [link] [comments]

So how do y'all use your cattle? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:39 PM PDT Do you wait before one reach a certain amount at the beginning stadium of the game? Or do you immediately trade it for some early wood or coin? [link] [comments]

Did the African Royals unlocked? Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:19 AM PDT Hi. Playing AOE3 DE via xbox game pass on PC. Bought the African Royals dlc, and it unlocked at 19m ago. But when i go to a skirmish game the 2 civs doesn't appear. Am i missing something? (except of course the civs) [link] [comments]
Fulani Archer Combat Card Crashes Game Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:34 AM PDT Is anyone else having the issue that adding the Fulani Archer Combat card into your deck as the Hausa crashes the game entirely? Also, in the standard pre-made decks, it shows as included (as in the card has the check mark when the deck is open), but it does not actually appear in the deck itself. Edit: This appears to be because the card is set to "This Card cannot be sent until Age 5." I'm assuming this is the issue and what is causing the crashing. [link] [comments]
