Pointless making state militia without the extra range card?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2021 04:15 AM PST

They have lower attack than regulars even against the units they counter. Lower range. Lower hitpoints. Cost is only slightly cheaper given that wood gathers slower than coin. Bad against cav and can get wiped out by just a few hussars. I can't see an advantage making them over regulars unless the range card is sent. And there's often more important cards to send at the time. They just don't work as skirms with 13 range and 14 attack.

[Empire Wars Build Order] Chinese Flamethrower Disciple Rush, army in enemy base in under 60 seconds

    Posted: 13 Nov 2021 06:01 PM PST

    • Send Castle Rickshaw to build right outside enemy base, set it to receive all shipments
    • Try to scout out enemy's incoming Outpost/Castle Rickshaw with your Monk and Disciple if they're one of the civs that get one
    • Start aging with White Pagoda
    • Build a Village and split Vills to gather Wood and Coin with a slight bent towards Wood
    • Ship Disciples Age 1 card
    • With Wagon from first shipment, build Consulate and pick Brits
    • Use Disciples to scout for enemy Wagons and try to burn them down ASAP if you see them, especially after age-up
    • Upon age-up, ship Pikes and start training Flamethrowers from your forward Castle
    • When Pikes ship in, attack the enemy base and make sure no wagons escape
    • Next shipment send Steppe Riders
    • Use shipment wagons to build either Trading Posts or more Castles surrounding your opponent

And just keep attacking. If you want to do something less all-in, ship Vills instead of Disciples and make sure you're gathering Food to sustain Vill production.

What do y'all think? I understand this BO is probably pretty far from bulletproof but boy is it fun! I love being encouraged by the game design to use the rarely-seen Disciples and Flamethrowers without feeling like I'm hamstringing myself, and getting to grips with the enemy so early on in the game is a breath of fresh air after they cleaned out all the remaining Colonial Age rushes over the past year. Also, if you want to counter this kind of all-in rush that you've scouted, I assume very early Walls backed by long-range infantry are the way to go but I haven't played enough yet to find that out.

I also assume that Flail Elephants might see some serious usage with the free forward Castle and such massive emphasis on those dang Wagons early on! What kind of stuff have y'all been doing?

"I tire of this" he says while holding a massive advantage in the early game. Their demise came when he failed to adapt to our adaptations to their strategies.

And as always, smash that like button, and don't forget to subscribe.
