Seeing where the devs are going with the newer civs. Will you mind the addition of newer features for original civs?

Anyone know how I can get to the Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition “proto(y)” and “techtree(y)” files in the File Explorer??? I’m trying to get TownCenters to train wagons (like Bank and Factory) in Age of Empires III: Asian Dynasties, but can’t find it at all.

New contents are really ruining the game. Hear me

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 12:13 PM PST

    By QueenMegatron, 2007

First of all it is worth noting that AOE3 is all about Europeans colonizing the Americas and every aspect of the game has been designed for that theme.

They've already made one expansion, the TWC, that breaks both the theme and gameplay entirely. Now they are even adding one more expansion that is set in Asia?

The first thing they do is to add native American civilizations that are already in the game as native tribes, and how are they supposed to send "shipments" to a "colony" in the "new world" when they are already in the new world themselves? How are the Sioux supposed to send shipments from the great plain to the great plain?

They also made a building that allows you to train treasure guardians and mercenaries. Treasure guardians are supposed to be your enemies during your exploration and what is the point of hiring them? Mercenaries are mostly European units that you hired from Europe and sent to the new world. Why should you be allowed to train them directly?

Speaking of gameplay, the game is well balanced around 20 cards and the current counter system. Adding more cards is going to be a balance disaster. They even overhauled the entire counter system so that archers now have the same role as skirmishers. They should keep every legacy civ as it already is and try to fit new civs into that system, instead of changing the legacy civs.

And revolution. Bruh. They are letting you change into a completely different civ and erase your entire home city. Who allowed that to happen? What is even the point of having home cities?

But that does not stop them from adding in Asia. How is the European civs with full American colonial architecture going to fit in Asia? They still have settlers, courer-de-bois and "New World trading company" which were fully American. How is the native alliance system supposed to work on Asian maps? They already know it can't. They have to force religious groups into the place of native tribes.

Those developers have no love or respect to the legacy game which is a pure work of art.

Why can't we get the Mexican civ from another 50 in-game achievements like we did with the American one?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2021 11:10 AM PST

I feel like having 5 bucks for only 1 new civ is not worth it, let alone saying that Mexicans already appeared as a revolutionary country.

Any advice for playing Ottomans ?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 03:59 PM PST

I've just started trying Ottomans. I just keep losing. Any helpful strategies? My play style unfortunately tends to be economic boom followed by a push in age 4 if possible.

Why are US and Ethiopia considered OP in Treaty?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 11:08 AM PST

Hey, been hearing a lot of whining about these civs in treaty mode, I exclusively play 1v1 supremacy so I have no idea but I was wondering what exactly makes them OP?

From what I can see US lacks a lot of eco cards compared to other civs, and state militia have been considerably nerfed since release. Ethiopia seem to have no reliable income of influence late game because once the mines run out you can no longer gather from monasteries with your abuns/villagers. Eco seems weak too with no factories and lack of cards like refrigeration and royal mint.

USA Age 2 Gold army Build Order (Boston Tea Party)

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 01:58 PM PST

    Hey there!

So recently I made a post in response to several posts I'd seen talking about United States age 2 play, and how you should NOT go with Virginia, that post is located here: the most slept on USA card : aoe3 (reddit.com)

In that post I discuss why Boston Tea Party is the ideal age up option for the purpose of age 2 gold armies instead of wood armies if you don't like the state militia (like me)

So, in this post, I have a video of me using it! Now in this build order I went with a pretty standard and boring regular start as I knew we were fighting against lots of cav, BUT you this build order is SUPER flexible and if you with to start with hussar, sharpshooters, or lee's legion, you can TOTALLY do that by sending the respective card as your second card instead of Boston Tea Party. even after you decide your first unit, this build order enjoys plenty of flexibility, as you can see by the ease of which i was able to make 5 hussars

hope you enjoy the video, please sub if you wanna see more cool build orders and check out my channel!

    Best non total conversion mods?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2021 08:48 AM PST

Hi everyone. I'm looking for mods that improve the game or add some QoL or convenient thing without altering the gameplay too much. I'm also interested in mods that have more diverse AIs (I'd like to see a wall every now and then). Even graphical improvements are welcome :) .

    Thanks!

    Best civilizations for farming?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2021 12:07 PM PST

I prefer having my settlers able to sit on a farm and generate resources, much more reliable and consistent than hunts or mines. But it seems that some civs are much better at this than others. Does anyone know a civ that has powerful mills/estates/fields ? Thanks
