Should fog of war don't update herdables? Or not?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2021 03:44 AM PST

Yesterday I won a game against a Russian player who lost their TC around minute 16. The player didn't resign and pulled the classic move into the sides of the map and rebuild army.

The thing is that I could spot easily their vills since I noticed the herdables in the sides started moving around and dying.

What do you think? Do you think it's a good feature (avoids playing cat and mouse around the map)? Do you think it should be easier to hide around the map?

first online game, played 3v3 treaty, got fucked in the ass by Inca

    Posted: 26 Dec 2021 05:57 AM PST

Exact before that game I've tried inca for the first time and just found out you can send shipments to inca scout(can't remember what it's name was). So as soon as I've found out opponent inca player were placing their scout in my base I realized this guy is going to send units via home city cards to this scouts. So I trapped them with walls, and built a outpost and killed it(buildings can still attack in treaty timer). So after that, I relieved and just spammed more walls. But I forgot they can have invisible castles, and apparently there was 3 fucking castles next to my base and got fucked by it, losing my entire villagers and settler wagons lol

Hope I don't fall into same cheese twice next time

Looking for experienced player to play fun, relaxed games with

    Posted: 25 Dec 2021 09:02 PM PST

Hello. I'm looking for someone to play a few games of AoE3 with.

I find playing online I get matched with people either much stronger or weaker than me. I want to play against someone of the same strength. Someone who can challenge me but not overwhelm me.

I am experienced in this game and play well. But I don't like to play hardcore micro or build orders to the max. I like games with a moderate pace, sponteneity, satisfying fights, and aren't over in the first battle. I don't like the same build orders always and the game being over in one battle in the 2nd age.

Ideally we'd play 1v1 multiple times. Get to know our styles and what satisfies us. If one of us is stronger we can use a handicap balance. We can mix up our civs and playstyles. Experiment and challenge ourselves.

I am in Australia. I'm off work the next two weeks with no plans. I'm looking for someone who is not too far away and is available to play 9am-5pm AEST. Comment or PM if interested!

    Maya and cows

    Posted: 25 Dec 2021 10:33 AM PST

If you play treaty with Maya you gotta look at this

I just found out that with the card that allows Hacienda to produce wood, putting a cow on it would produce 0.32 wood per sec, compared to 0.17 food and 0.11 coin. On the other side vil's gather rate on display is 1.38 food 0.85 coin and 0.72 wood.

DO NOT PUT VILS ON WOOD!

Get as many cows as you can and put them on wood, those will count almost half a villager LMFAO

What I do is say I got Hacienda A and B, use A to generate cow, set A's rally point to B, and use B to generate wood. When the cow will keep generating wood until gets fully fattened it will get butchered but A will keep spawning cow and putting it into B to replace it. Putting 6-7 vills on A will be just about the right amount of spawn time to keep B's cow always near the max.

Another question about Revolutions. Particularly Finland

    Posted: 25 Dec 2021 03:26 PM PST

In researching revolutions, I've noticed that many cards, especially upgrades, still work for the revolution civ. In terms of Finland since their villagers become Karelian Jaegers, do they still get affected by cards which increase increase a villagers gather rate for natural resources?

    Revolutions in Treaty Games.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2021 12:35 PM PST

Something that I've always wanted to do is try playing as a revolution in Treaty Games (Not Mexico). I've been watching videos and looking to see what would probably be the best revolutions, and I've come to the conclusion that South Africa (Dutch) and Finland (Sweden) would probably be strong possibilities.

I know treaty games tend to rely on out producing your enemies, and you do give up the imperial gathering techs. Has anyone tried either of these in treaty Games and had any success? I'm sure South Africa has way more viability since it had a lot of trickling gold, and can get Couriers. I really just want to know if they are any good, and can match up with late game eco.

Which Indian units should be added to British rosters to round up the force?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2021 12:16 AM PST

Haven't come around to buy DE version yet, so I will just rely on editing .xml files to get my standard copy close to the change.

Which of the Indian units could be added into British Barracks and Stables that would fill the gaps left in the standard army while doesn't break immersions too much? OR should I stick to editing European mercenaries into them for shipping Indian Brigades to European theaters was not a thing before the age of steamships?

Jat Lancers and Gurkha come to mind, while Mahout Elephants are cool but not very good at their job.

    True gather rate measurement

    Posted: 24 Dec 2021 10:01 PM PST

Did a test on the true gather rate on food and coin per sec

All the civs I used has every tech/card available to them researched, but no Native tech(unless your civ can access it via tech/cards) or Team Cards from allies

    - Chinese both food and coin on Rice Paddy, rate on display 1.25food 0.97coin, measured true rate 1.22~1.23food 0.94coin

Rice Paddy's true gather rate is 98%~99% multiplier on display rate for food, 97% for coin

    - Mexico both food and coin on Hacienda, rate on display 1.22food 1.05coin, measured true rate 1.23~1.24food 1.06coin

Hacienda's true gather rate is 101% multiplier on display rate for both food and coin

    - USA food on Mill, coin on Estate, rate on display 1.51food 1.4coin, measured true rate 1.02~1.03food 1.02~1.03coin, test done with 7 vil per Mill/Estate

Mill's true gather rate is 68~70% multiplier on display rate, Estate's true gather rate is 70~73% multiplier on display rate, it varies depending on how many vills are working, if you put 10 vils on 1 Plantation/Estate the true gather rate seems to be 1~3% slower compared to 7 or less vils.

    - Inca food on Farm, coin on Estate, rate on display 1.2food 1.05coin, measured true rate 1.21food 0.76~0.77coin, test done with 7 vil per Estate, for Farm it doesnt change as vils dont move around

Farm's true gather rate is 101% multiplier on display rate

    - Hausa both food and coin on Field, rate on display 1.05f 0.92coin, measured true rate 0.91food 0.81coin, 3 vils per field

Field's true gather rate is 86~87% for food and 88% for coin multiplier on display rate

Question regarding revolution option and East Europe civs mod

    Posted: 24 Dec 2021 07:22 PM PST

Just got the game during the winter sale on Steam. I see that Hungary and Romania are available both as a revolution option (with certain civs) but also in a mod called Eastern Europe civilizations. I got the mod because I want to play the full civs not just half Russia and half Romania (still with Russian language for some reason). Which brings me to my questions:

    1. Why doesn't the revolution option change the language of the civs once they're active? In the case of the Hungarians and Romanians they already exist in the mod, why not just ask the modder if he's ok that they use that? They're done quite well.
    2. How balanced are Hungarians / Romanians in the mod? I played the game back when it first game out back in the mid 2000s but not much since then. And I tried a couple of games with Romanians and they seem balanced to me which means the modder did a pretty good job with that as well.

Overall I quite enjoy the game and the mod.
