No Guard or higher upgrade for Italy Pavisires?

    Posted: 30 May 2022 07:40 AM PDT

I am not seeing any Guard or Imperial upgrade for Pavisiers. Am I missing some Politician or unique upgrade path to get it?

I know they get two Home City cards, in Age 3, to buff them; but I was hoping they would be more viable late game.

Could there be different ELO's for each civ?

    Posted: 30 May 2022 03:38 AM PDT

For ranked games, what if your ELO changed depending on which civ you were playing?

I've been playable my main for a while and wanted to try a few different ones. However, I've not as good with other ones so if I play a ranked game at that ELO then I won't be matched up well.

Wouldn't it make sense for each civ to have it's own ELO? I don't know how many of you play Smash Ultimate but, that's basically how the equivalent is in that game. There is "GSP" (Global Smash Power) and it adjusts individually for each character (all 86 of them) depending on how you are online. This makes it more feasibly to practice with a new character online against real people without being matched out of your league. I feel like something similar could work with this game.

For anyone that says to practice in casual first, it's often hard to find someone relatively equally matched with you in casual lobbies. Unlike with ranked games.

    What do you guys think?

How much as AOE: 3 DE improved since launch?

    Posted: 29 May 2022 06:00 PM PDT

I grew up on AOE 3 legacy and was sad to hear the AOE 3: DE launch was a bit of a whiff initially

The new DLC looks great and I assume a lot of the bugs/balance issues have been fixed, but it's hard to find any clear info as to what major improvements have occurred since launch

The launch was kind of notoriously controversial so I've avoided jumping in, but I haven't heard much since then aside from the latest DLC

Are there any major changes/improvements since launch? What is this subreddit's thoughts on these?

EDIT: weird colon placement in the title...ah well

Winged hussar card update for Germany

    Posted: 30 May 2022 09:08 AM PDT

With the most recent update germanys age 4 winged hussar shipment now sends 6 actual winged hussars

Previously it was like 10 and then 7 just imperial hussars i Believe and it used to send hussars instead of uhlans with ever shipment afterwards

Now germany gets 6 new units the polish winged hussars. Which look dope af and have great stats. But now you still get uhlans with every shipment afterward which really isn't a big deal for me

I just wish there was some way germany could train more of these. How does the community feel about the new polish winged hussars?

Mapped out all the current civs. Forgive the rough and anachronistic borders. What other civs would you like to see in the future? I think PLC, Brazil or Safavid Persia are interesting future additions for this period.

    native unit shipments for euro-civs

    Posted: 29 May 2022 02:50 PM PDT

Now that we have euro-natives it would make sense to give the euro-civs access to some of their units through the home city. All civs already have such shipments but with American natives but with Europe now in the game as a region, it would make much more sense to have euro-native shipments, especially since we're already in a process of euro redesigns with the last patches and the devs have already kind of started with this idea when they gave Spain the reconquista card which gives them conquistadors, a long awaited change.

Moreover both new euro-civs have these kind of cards (evzones and mounted infantry for Italy and totenkopf hussars, evzones and boyars for malta)

Most euro-civs have a historic link with at least one of the new royal houses so I'll present a list with some possible ideas. Obviously all of these shipments would require a payment of 500 or 1000 coin, depending on their age.

For Spain we already got the conquistadors and I d'une think they're going to tweak Spain anymore for now. Nevertheless it would make sense to give them access to a shipment of line infantry in age 2 or 3 because they were part of the habsburg empire during those times, and a shipment of royal dragoons or royal musketeers fill the bourbon, a dynasty that ruled Spain after the Spanish succession war.

For France it's obviously going to be one or both of the bourbon units.

For Germany it would be nice to have the saxon halb for age 2 and one if the habsburg ones for age 3. They already have the winged hussars on age 4. Especially the habsburg linkage is important imo because Austria will not be implemented as a civ as they're considered to be part of the German one, but that's not evident enough.

While Britain got patched recently as well, giving them a Hannover shipment with mix of their available units in age 4 would be nice. They don't really need it in any of the other ages imo though that's up for debate.

Russia would most obviously get the northern musketeer, but lipka Tatar is also an option. Replacing the goons from the church card with the latter would also be a good change.

Sweden would get the royal arquebusiers from the house of vasa, and maybe one of the wittelsbach units (the wittelsbach ruled over all of Scandinavia at some point), in two separate shipments of course.

For Dutch the only real option I see is getting line infantry and making a link with the Austrian netherlands (after all Belgium was austrian for a while). Getting the danish royal hunter from the house of Oldenburg would make sense historically because the Dutch were allied with Denmark for quite some time, but i fell like the Dutch eco is already too strong to give them that.

The ottomans can get one or both of the units from the house of phanar

Portugal doesn't really have historical links with any of the new houses to my knowledge, but they could instead get a shipment of cannoneers instead as it's really awkward for them to not have access to those in the first place. I know those aren't native units technically but it would make sense to give them that more than anything else.

USA build order built around Cree?

    Posted: 29 May 2022 09:35 PM PDT

Does anyone have any ideas for building a USA build order round the cree shipment that you get with Pennsylvania? I've been wanting to get it to work but I'm not sure the best way to go about using that shipment. It probably lends itself well to mid/late game since you can get cheap buildings (on top of Oregon trail) and those additional 5 CDB. Spam towers and turtle? Push with Cree trackers? Spam cheap mills with German Immigrants? What are your thoughts?

    Unlocking Explorer Skins

    Posted: 29 May 2022 08:52 PM PDT

Hi all! My apologies if this is common knowledge; I'm new to the Definitive Edition. I'm trying to unlock an explorer skin for the Maltese (the knightess) and the condition is 5,000 dmg with artillery in a single Skirmish or Multiplayer match. I've tried skirmish games, and multiplayer games, and I've definitely done more than 5k damage with artillery in these games, but I can't get her to unlock? In fact, I'm pretty sure I've fulfilled conditions for other explorers on the way, but I can't get any to unlock! Am I missing something?

    Massive lag on 4v4 maps

    Posted: 29 May 2022 01:37 PM PDT

Hello! Im having issues where SOMETIMES on 4v4 maps or sometimes even 3v3 there are these HUUUGE stutters where the game freezes for a SOLID 2 to 5 seconds, both in multiplayer and singleplayer. What's causing it? It's certainly some issue with the game itself, as all my drivers are up to date and my rig can MORE than handle even the recommended specs. Anyone else has the same issue?

Edit: i SEEM to have confirmed its fixed by restarting the game. memory leakage perhaps?

Saxon cuirassier is even stronger than the french one. :D. Why Royal houses are not just "weak natives with bows and plumes"

Saxon cuirassier is even stronger than the french one. :D. Why Royal houses are not just "weak natives with bows and plumes"

Just wanted to prove how important is from now on to get in control of the royal houses when you play an European map.

Here an easy example: House Wettin heavy cav. The Saxon Cuirassier, with some juicy french native cards can get stronger than a standard french cuirassier, fully upgraded. More HP (1190 vs 1063) and 10% more attack. (66vs 60). Also with a card for discount you can get a Saxon cuirassier for 113 food and 113 wood. Not bad. And most important. FREE POP. This is huge for treaty games. Why? Because if you own a trade post with Wettin, you get 7 cuirassiers. That's 21 pop, for free. 0 cost. And if you own 2 posts (which is not an impossible task in many maps), you can get 14 cuirassiers with less pop cost than 1 pathetic settler. If you deploy 14 of those monsters you have some extra 42 pop equivalent units vs your enemy. Btw on the right you can see what 42 pop looks like with heavy infantry. Seriously, and this is just for the heavy cav unit, not even talking about the halbs you can also create or the techs.

This is why Royal houses are not just some "silly useless natives with bows and stupid upgrades". Most of them are actually strong, maybe some more than others, but I highly recommend to control them, particularly for long treaty games. In this map also got control of the Fanar royal house and of course I got Cossacks with almost 900HP and like 57 attack. Think about the army you can get with natives by your side and the army of the enemy without them.

    Missing Revolution Button?

    Posted: 29 May 2022 09:05 AM PDT

Hi there, I'm trying to complete the event challenge where you need to revolt either as Spanish or French but I can't seem to revolt as the revolution button from the town centre is missing. Is this a know issue? Been to the forum and can't really find any solutions. I have set the starting age as exploration and ending with imperial but not helping. Have tried 1v1 and 4v4 but it just not showing either. Have also tried supremacy, deathmatch and empire wars but no luck. Thanks.

Update: For some reason, the button is missing in Skirmish not in multiplayer.
