Is the Market and the gather upgrades worth it in very early game?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:56 PM PDT

Not sure if in Age I if i should be building a market and buying the upgrades to have my villagers gather faster? Or focus on aging up first right away

I'm out of the loop on what's going on. Why is everyone talking about a US civilization and DLC?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:56 AM PDT

I see so many posts going around and I was scrolling trying to look for a leak or something. What's going on with America as a DLC?

I apologize if this is just discussion about the current game and it's flying right over my head... r/whoosh

Anyone hoping they announce custom map support tomorrow?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 08:53 AM PDT

In the original, there were scenarios, and "custom maps". Custom maps had even more flexibility than scenarios. There were so many great games from cats vs mice, to fort wars, etc.

I was sad to see that DE does not support custom maps. Scenarios are also rather buggy as well. They've made some fixes, but not enough.

Is there 256x tech mod for AoE3:DE? Or anything of similar nature?

Are Custom Maps Still Regularly Played? (Cat and Mouse)

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:53 PM PDT

    Hello aoe3 people,

Around 2014-2016 I played a lot of AOE3, but mainly custom games called "Cat and Mouse" where one player try's to kill all the others who can build walls and hide themselves. It was really fun. Also tower defense.

In the definitive version of aoe 3, are these type of games still popular? Cause if not I won't purchase the game.

    Thanks

Just had a comp stomp game where the 3 AI teams entire army's got stuck in my Explorers death animation for the entire game! literally all stacked up on a small space the lag was ridicules if you think about 300 or so units all stuck in a box area it was a little silly all because they decided to get stuck on him when he died

Land Maps ! What are the good maps not in DE?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 03:43 AM PDT

I've download vivid's map pack however there are only 2 or 3 of them I enjoy (Albertais awesome I don't know why it isn't in DE) and most of them are pretty "meme" for me.

I've also seen Durokan's map pack and ESOC's map too and they seem better for the maps I enjoy (land maps for 1v1 or 2v2 with no gimmick or meme). Is there a map pack for it? I'd download ESOC but quite a few maps are already in DE. Is it or is there and updated version? Is there a pack with 5-6 nice maps not ported to AOE3-DE? I don't carew there is water maps in the pack although my focus in land maps Thank you

Are the Dutch viable in Definitive Edition?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:46 AM PDT

I read the patch notes and saw that they got buffed.

I have heard the Dutch described in general as being at risk of being out boomed after fortress age. Do you agree with this? What is the potential for the Dutch eco in supremacy do you think they fall off or no? How efficiently do banks cover for the Dutch's lack of villager pop.

    WHAT A GAME! (EGR)

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:54 AM PDT

I would like to see all revolt nations be made into playable nations.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:05 AM PDT

It would allow for rushing with a revolt nation. Most rush players never get to use revolt nations because the game ends way before you can revolt. I really like some of the revolt nations and would like to play them from the start. Also it would bring more balance into the game so these late game only choices are available early game.

    The concept of "Ages"

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 08:04 AM PDT

So this mainly comes from a thought experiment: what if they're adding a "WWI age" for every nation like in the WoL mod. It would make sense for most Europeans as you're advancing from 19th century-styled units to WWI. But for Natives, especially Aztecs and Incas, it feels very weird to jump directly from obsidian/bronze weapons to rifles and vehicles.

My feeling is AOE actually treats "Ages" differently than Civilization games or Rise of Nations (which feels more similar to Civilizations than RTS). In those games, different civs/nations are forced to synchronize when they enter the same "age".

In AOE, because the scope is rather limited and differences seem more profound within a shorter time period, "ages" feel more like the "developmental levels of your base" rather than actual historical periods, otherwise all civs should have factories in the "Industrial Age". This is more profound in AOE3 because the techtree is not shared between civs. For most Asians and Native Americas, you do not unlock units that are more "technically advanced" , but those that look more flamboyant and "elite". Of course in some cases you still get more advanced units like cannons for Hauds.

I wonder how people feel about it, but to me the idea of "ages" is actually very chaotic in AOE games.
